Indiana hosted a 2015 prospect from Lyons Township High School this past weekend in sophomore point guard Harrison Niego. The floor general had a great spring and summer with Chicago Lockdown 15U where he led his team to a tremendous season. Niego is a tough point guard that is a great leader on the floor. He gets his teammates involved and puts them in position to succeed. The point guard can also score especially with his perimeter shot.
He broke down what he did on his visit to Indiana over the weekend.
“When I arrived I met with the coaches and took a tour of their state of the art practice facility. The facility was every basketball players dream. Then we watched a practice in Assembly Hall. Coach Crean ran a great practice. Very intense. Afterwards we spent time with Coach Crean and Coach Buckley. He shared his insights on how I can improve my game and play at a school the caliber of Indiana. After we finished our day we attended the Ohio State, Indiana football game. It was a great atmosphere. I look forward to watching IU basketball this season.”
He was very impressed with the Hoosiers coaching staff.
“They are very authentic and sincere. After spending time with them I understand why some of the best players in the country want to go play for them.”
The coaches likened his game to a couple of Crean’s former point guards.
“They compared my skill level and game to Travis Diener (Marquette) and Jordan Hulls.”
He described what he thought of Indiana after the visit.
“It’s the ultimate package. Respected coaches, a rich tradition, and outstanding academics.”
