St. Rita Falls In Timberwolves Shootout

St. Rita traveled to Minnesota to play in the Timberwolves Shootout at the home of the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday afternoon.  Their opponent was De La Salle (MN).

It was a low scoring game early, but De La Salle 2015 shooting guard Sacar Anim showed he could flat out score.  St. Rita struggled with turnovers in the first half and couldn’t get any consistent scoring.  De La Salle led 25-15 at the half.

St. Rita unsigned senior Dominique Matthews started the second half off strong getting to the hoop and scoring in bunches.

The Mustangs continued to cut into the lead.  Northwestern commit Vic Law had a big dunk followed by a three to tie the game.  St. Rita would momentarily take the lead, but De La Salle closed it out in the last five minutes to get the win 59-53.

Sacar Anim is an athletic wing that is great in transition and has a quick first step getting to the rim.  He went for 29 points.

Dominique Matthews was held scoreless in the first half, but finished well going for 19 points in the second half.  Charles Matthews had 11 points and 4 assists.  Vic Law had 8 points and did a nice job on the glass.
