Breese Mater Dei Tournament Preview

The Breese Mater Dei Holiday Tournament is always a must see in Southern Illinois.  This year the event brings another great group of teams and some big-time star power.

Memphis Briarcrest is annually one of the top programs in Tennessee.  This year they feature top 30 nationally ranked power forward Austin Nichols who had offers from coast to coast including North Carolina and Duke.  In the end he decided to stay home and play at Memphis.  It will be quite a treat for locals to see a player of this caliber in the Mater Dei Tournament.

Okawville has senior point guard Jeremy Weeke who is one of the top players in southern Illinois.  He is a tough guard that gets the job done.  Mascoutah has an under the radar senior in Marshall Moore.  The 6’5” small forward can really shoot it and remains uncommitted.

Nashville freshman Royce Newman is making noise as one of the players to watch in the 2016 class.  The forward has good size and a talented game at a young age.
