Matthews, St. Rita Beat Brother Rice

St. Rita got a big home win on Tuesday night as they knocked off Brother Rice.  Despite Brother Rice spending a good portion of the first half at the charity stripe a balanced attack by St. Rita pushed their lead to 38-22 at the half.  They would continue to play well in the second half as junior Dominique Matthews exploded for a big effort in the third quarter.  They would go onto win by a final of 79-57.
Sophomore guard Charles Matthews had one of his better games of the season.  He got in the lane consistently and would either slice through the defense finishing at the hoop or knock down jumpers.  He set his teammates up and handled the ball well.  The sophomore finished with 18 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.  His brother Dominique Matthews got most of his production in the second and third quarters where he went on a scoring spree finishing with 16 points.
Vic Law continues his strong and consistent play this season.  He was active around the hoop and controlled the boards going for 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Senior Scott Kingsley had 13 points in the victory while sophomore point guard Armani Chaney played well dishing off some impressive dimes and controlling tempo when in the game.
Brother Rice was led in scoring by senior Alex Majewski.  He struggled in the first half, but got it going in the third quarter and finished with 17 points and 7 boards.  Forward Cal Kennedy showed off a skilled game including a few threes and a nice post move on his way to 14 points.
