St. Rita's Victor Law Stock Soaring

St. Rita junior small forward Vic Law is starting to blow up. He has always had potential and a high skill level. Now he is putting it all together. In two recent games he has been spectacular. Against Marist, Law had a monster game recording 29 points and 10 rebounds earning the game’s MVP.

He would follow that up with a break out performance on the national stage Saturday at the HoopHall Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts. Law went for 17 points and a ridiculous 19 rebounds against Maryland power Lake Clifton.

His stock has been steadily rising over the last six months as he was one of the most talked about prospects during open gyms in the fall. He has continued that level of play throughout the season for St. Rita.

Law is a 6’7" wing with excellent size and long arms. The best aspect of his game is his ability to shoot it from the perimeter. He is a great jump shooter from all over the floor. Law gets elevation on his shot and has a feathery touch from deep. The junior is an elite mid-range shooter. When he gets on a roll he cannot be stopped. Law likes it when he gets the ball in the mid-range and on the elbows where can do a lot of work either shooting, making a quick move off the bounce, or finding an open teammate.

The junior continues to improve his game off the dribble and attacking from the wing. He is smooth with the ball in his hands. His athleticism is starting to show through too as he has had a couple very athletic plays around the hoop in recent games including a big alley-oop against Marist. Law is a smart kid both on and off the court sporting Ivy League grades in the classroom, but he also shows it on the court with a high basketball IQ. He knows how to get to the weak spot in the defense and score from there. I like how active Law is playing and how efficient he is becoming with his offense.

Defensively he uses his length and has active hands getting in passing lanes. Law is a good rebounder from the forward spot. This has been evident these past couple games as he is rebounding at a high rate. Law is quick to the glass to secure the rebound. He is getting a knack that all good rebounders have for knowing where the ball is coming off.

We will continue to track the progress of this talented junior.
