Gatorade To Remove Flame Retardant

PepsiCo, the owner of Gatorade, will remove brominated vegetable oil as an ingredient in the popular sports drink.

Brominated vegetable oil is a synthetic chemical that has been patented in Europe as a flame retardant.

The ingredient is used as a flavor emulsifier that helps to evenly distribute Gatorade’s coloring throughout the bottle.
