Sophomore star Karrington Ward registered a triple-double to lead Moraine Valley (IL) past Morton College (IL) 83-69 to win the NJCAA Division II Region 4 title.
Ward scored 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 10 shots in the win. He was backed up by 18 points and 8 rebounds by Dave Williams and 13 points and 8 assists from Marquell Pierce.
Moraine Valley has now punched their ticket to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, Illinois. The team is looking to send head coach Dedrick Shannon, who recently announced he was stepping down, out with a championship.
Moraine Valley currently sports a 28-5 record. The National Tournament runs March 19-23.
