Brandon Hutton is one of the most physically gifted players in the class of 2015. The forward is insanely strong and uses it to his advantage especially on the defensive end. On that end of the floor he plays with a high motor, can lock down his man, and is a good help defender. He also hits the glass strong.
Offensively he is just scratching the surface of his potential. He has made great strides in his game off the bounce and his mid-range jumper has gotten better throughout the season. The sophomore spoke about what areas he feels he has improved this season.
“I have developed in all points of my game. Mid-range and shooting. Cutting, driving straight to the whole, and finishing strong. My explosiveness and defense.”
Defense comes first for Hutton, but he has been in the gym working hard on his offensive game.
“When I was a young player I was more of a defensive player. Now I am working on my offensive game. It is coming along slowly. I am looking for my junior year to be killing on both ends. I am real physical so defense has never been a problem.”
De La Salle Head Coach Tom White has nothing but praise for his sophomore star.
“3.0 GPA. His books are solid. He is a dog and competes every time. He gets on the floor when we start practice at 2:50 and he doesn’t come off until practice is over and then he gets more shots up. He never comes out. Every possession of every drill he doesn’t come out. You can’t really put that in kids. Either they do it or they don’t.”
