JayQuan McCloud Talks Offers

North Chicago 2014 shooting guard JayQuan McCloud has had a nice spring on the circuit with the Illinois Wolves 17U.

McCloud had one of his signature performances of the spring at the Jayhawk Invitational in the semifinals against the Louisville Magic with a large contingent of college coaches on hand.  He was active early crashing the offensive glass and finishing in transition.

As the game went on McCloud scored more in the half court showing his improved handle getting in the paint.  His jumper was also going from three and mid-range.  When he gets hot from outside it's over!  He has clearly established himself in the top group of shooting guards in the state.

We spoke with the junior about how the spring is going with his team.

“It is going pretty good.  We are ranked 11th in the nation.  Just want to keep this thing rolling.”

How does he feel he has played this spring?

“Overall I think I have played real good.  Running the floor, grabbing rebounds, and playing the combo guard.”

McCloud recently picked up an offer from Loyola and he likes their style of play.

“They run a motion type offense that fits me.”

He has several other offers on the table.

“Wright State, NIU, University of North Dakota, and IPFW.”

Other schools in the mix include Creighton, Illinois State, DePaul, North Dakota State, and St. Louis.  What will he be looking for in a program when taking visits?

“If I feel comfortable and it feels like home.  That is what type of environment I want to be around.”
