6'6 Ben Carlson Is Rising In 2014

Fremd High School 2014 6’6” power forward Ben Carlson is running on the circuit this spring with Illinois Old School-Carpenter 17U.

The thick-bodied forward has wide shoulders and strong body.  He finishes well around the hoop and is a solid rebounder.  He is also working on his perimeter game where he shows a great passing feel for a big man and has a soft touch out to 15 feet.  He discussed his junior season.

“I started off pretty strong averaging 12 points per game.  Dropped off a little in the second half of the season.  I am working hard to try to get back to my old form.”

What parts of his game is he looking to improve this spring and summer on the circuit?

“Playing the perimeter mostly.  I am used to playing the post in high school.  Getting my outside shot, work on my ball handling, and guarding good players.”

He talked about what he sees himself as positionally down the line.

“I think I can play anywhere from the three to five.  I feel like I can guard there and play there.”

South Dakota, Nebraska Omaha, and Indiana Wesleyan are some of the schools that have expressed interest although he doesn’t hold any offers at this time.
