Former Waukegan High School and University of Illinois star Jereme Richmond has been found guilty on 2 of 3 counts of harassment of a witness.
The Lake County News-Sun reported the verdict last night after a jury deliberated for more than 6 hours. The jury found Richmond, who is 21, guilty of threatening his probation officer after showing up to take a court-ordered drug test just before the probation office closed, and after learning that a hearing had been scheduled to revoke his probation for not taking the test.
The prosecution provided witness testimony of verbal threats made by Richmond as well as gestures of a shooting gun while he circled the probation office parking lot.
Richmond has been in Lake County Jail since April 26 in lieu of a $250,000 bond. He is now facing a term of probation or three to seven years in jail.
Richmond's sentencing is set for September 26.
