De La Salle junior small forward Brandon Hutton had a breakout July! Hutton is an athletic and physical force that plays with a never ending motor. With the Illinois Stars 16U he was a beast on both ends of the floor. He has always been a big time defender and rebounder.
Where his game has really developed is on offense. Hutton made major strides handling the ball and improving his jump shot. The rising junior might have been the biggest stock riser in the state during the summer.
This week he took a visit to Loyola who he had previously received an offer from and discussed with us how it went.
“Well I met with whole coaching staff including Head Coach Moser. They showed me clips of the past season and showed me how they evaluate the players. They think I can be great on the wing because of my improvement on my shot and ball handling and that I’m a great slasher. They had great hospitality and they filled me in with plenty of information about the campus and their basketball program.”
Hutton discussed his breakout July.
“I made the best decision of this summer to make the move to the Illinois Stars. I thank my AAU coach Troy and coach Mike for giving me the opportunity to show my talents this summer. When I stepped out on the court in the July period I just put all my hard work and dedication into every game. I feel like I accomplished a lot of my goals this summer. I improved on my shot as well as my ball handling and there’s still room for improvement. My defense has gotten better too because I literally can guard positions 1 through 5. I’m in the gym everyday working to get to my highest peak.”
Look for Hutton’s recruitment to continue to be an active one as many colleges will be in to see him during open gyms this fall.
