De La Salle 2015 small forward Karl Harris made major strides in his game during the July evaluation period running with the Illinois Stars 16U. The smooth and versatile wing came off the bench and was their leading scorer in several games. He can really get to the basket slashing though the defense and is a solid jump shooter.
Tuesday, Harris took an unofficial visit to Loyola and discussed with us what he did on the trip.
“I took a visit to the classrooms and saw the library. Thought it was a really nice campus. Took me to the view on the lake of the campus. Coach Porter welcomed me and showed me around their nice facilities, locker room, and stadium. Coach Porter was telling me how he wants to teach me how to play the game, not just plays. Really liked the visit. Wonderful people.”
What impressed him the most on the visit?
“How nice the campus was. Took you away from the city life, but still in the city. Great athletic facilities and Coach Porter was a real nice guy. Their classrooms are a smaller size so I can get better individual help.”
The Loyola coaches expressed to the De La Salle junior what they are impressed by in his game.
“They like my size. All the schools are recruiting me as a combo guard and like my athleticism. Me personally I think I can be the best combo or shooting guard in the state.”
Harris has visits set up for Xavier, Butler, and Northern Kentucky over Labor Day weekend.
