The class of 2017 is looking to be a very good one early in the process with depth and potential star power. One of the better wing prospects we have seen is Fenwick small forward Jamal Nixon.
The powerful forward has a strong and physical body along with long arms. He is dynamic attacking the hoop on a consistent basis with his strength and plus handles. Nixon finishes at the basket. He shoots it well and has a nice feel for passing.
We caught up with the freshman to see how his spring and summer went with the Illinois Wolves 14U on the circuit.
“It went good. We got a lot of championships at good tournaments against good competition.”
Nixon broke down his game.
“A wing that can attack the basket and get my teammates involved. Versatile and can play every position.”
Fenwick is loaded next season with seniors Scott Lindsey and Dan Dwyer. They will have a couple of young running mates with Nixon and sophomore point guard Mike Smith. What is he looking forward to this upcoming season?
“Getting used to the system and conference. Also playing against good players and expanding my game.”
Nixon participated in Purdue's upcoming elite camp.
