UIC has done a great job getting a jump start on the class of 2015. They were consistently watching many of the top 16U teams during the July evaluation period.
The Flames grabbed their first commitment in that class with a verbal from Munster (IN) and Illinois Wolves 16U combo guard Drew Hackett on Thursday. The junior spoke about why UIC was his choice.
“It’s an amazing location to where my family would be able to see all of my home games and even most of my away games. Also they have a great coaching staff that I feel very comfortable with. I’d be able to fit in their program very well and be successful at it. It’s a great school for business with many connections to the Chicago land area.”
Hackett discussed how the whole commitment went down.
“I spent most of the day there yesterday walking around campus, meeting the rest of the staff, and sitting in on a class. I wanted to go home, talk about it with my family, and sleep on it. I knew today that UIC was where I wanted to play.”
