Class of 2014 guard Mory Diane out of Michigan ended his recruitment on Tuesday with a commitment to Buffalo. We caught up with the REACH Legends guard to see how the commitment went down.
“I called Coach Hurley around 2:30 PM. They just got done with workouts. I told him I was ready to make the commitment and he was excited.”
Why was Buffalo ultimately his choice?
“Coach Hurley was one of the best guards to play college basketball so who better to learn from with me being a guard. He develops his players and has great workouts. The assistant Nate Oats was a high school coach at Romulus in Michigan so I’ve played against him the past three years and saw his dedication with his players. Other than that I love the staff. They’re honest and engaged. I loved the players. They are really close and the campus is great with great facilities.”
Diane discussed how his game will fit in with his new program.
“I can shoot it from three and get to the basket with floaters and mid-range. I’m good off the ball screen too which is a big part of Buffalo’s system. They like to run which is a style of play I’m used to.”
The senior enjoyed his final run on the circuit with REACH during July.
“It went really good. I was proud of us especially how we played in Vegas winning the gold championship. We played hard.”
