Let the speculation finally end. Marian Catholic 2014 point guard Tyler Ulis has committed to Kentucky.
The quick and explosive lead guard took visits to his three finalists in Iowa, Michigan State, and Kentucky. He came to the conclusion that he wanted to be a Wildcat so he gave his commitment to Kentucky and Head Coach John Calipari.
Ulis is one of the elite prospects in the state of Illinois in 2014 and among the best point guards nationally.
He brings a lot to the table as a prospect. It starts with his leadership. Ulis is a true point guard in every sense of the word. The Marian Catholic star elevates the play of those around him to new heights. He gets in the lane with quickness and superior ball handling skills. He knows how to use his lack of height to duck in and out of defenders in the paint while always having his head up looking to make a play.
The star guard is an elite passer that has a tremendous feel for finding open teammates whether it is in transition or the half court. Unlike many young lead guards he understands pace and how to run a team in the half court. He can also score a little too. Ulis has a knack for making acrobatic shots in the lane that amaze you. His go-to scoring weapon is his mid-range jump shot and a runner that he has perfected. Defensively although small he is extremely pesky and will pick up his man at half court. He forces bad passes and turnovers with his pressure defense even against bigger guys at times.
This past spring and summer the senior dominated on the Nike EYBL circuit with Meanstreets making a name for himself on the national scene. We will have much more on this commitment soon.
