Collinsville 6’8” center Emondre Rickman might be the most intriguing prospect downstate in the class of 2015. The long and lanky post is just all arms and legs. He runs the floor great and is a defensive presence swatting shots.
Rickman is still a bit raw offensively, but displayed improvement on that end of the floor over the summer. During July with the Southwest Jets he showed a high activity level and grabbing rebounds around the hoop. This could be a candidate to have a breakout season as a junior.
The big man spoke about how his summer went with Jets including playing up some on their talented 17U squad.
“I think it went pretty well. I have gotten more experienced playing at a faster pace. Playing 16s is not as fast paced and as much action going on as playing with 17s. I played with some quick and strong guys.”
Rickman discussed some of the assets he feels he uses best in his game.
“Using my length getting rebounds. Stretching my arms and getting rebounds that other people can’t get to.”
The junior currently holds one offer courtesy of SIU-Edwardsville and discussed what he likes about the Cougars program.
“That it is local and I could keep in touch with my family and friends. From what I see they have a really good basketball program.”
Other schools that are showing interest include Evansville, UIC, Indiana State, Missouri State, and Illinois State.
