Chipley (FL) 6’4” sophomore Trent Forrest is a young combo guard with upside. Forrest is wise beyond his years and plays the game at his pace. He gets to his spots with ease. The 2016 prospect is a confident finisher that has good body control and thrives in the open court.
We caught up with the talented sophomore to see how his summer went with the Alabama Challenge 16U.
“As a team we got better as the summer went on and better each tournament. As for myself I started producing like I should towards the end of the circuit season.”
After his stellar spring Forrest was invited to the prestigious Nike Elite 100 where he competed against the best underclassmen in the nation including prospects a year older than him.
“The experience was great. It was like an elite basketball boot camp. The atmosphere and competition was great. Playing against the older guys was nothing new. I always grew up playing against older guys and just trying to prove myself.”
Forrest broke down his game.
“A big physical combo guard who can play and guard the 1 to the 3, gets his teammates involved, gets to the rim at will, and has a very high IQ.”
The sophomore discussed some of the schools that have shown him interest early in the process.
“It has picked up big time. Murray State, Florida State, and UCF have come through. Got interest from Texas and USF.”
He plans on visiting Florida soon and recently took a visit to Florida State.
“It was great. We enjoyed it. The coaches are great. They have good relationships with the players and they really are interested in me. Their fan base is phenomenal.”
Forrest discussed what he is going to look for in a school.
“Are their academics good, what are the coaches like, and the style of play they have.”
