Loyola picked up a big commitment on Sunday night with a verbal from Blue Valley Northwest (KS) shooting guard Ben Richardson. The 6’2” guard can really light it up from deep and is a tough defender. He can also slide over and play the point.
We caught up with Richardson to see why Loyola was his choice.
“Loyola definitely was the best fit for me from the academics to the direction that the program is headed. I felt this was the right choice.”
Loyola led by Head Coach Porter Moser and assistant coach Daniyal Robinson did a tremendous job making Richardson a priority and landing the talented guard. He spoke about his relationship with the coaching staff.
“As I started to get to know the Loyola staff this summer it was easy to tell Coach Moser was a very energetic players coach who also really knows his stuff as far as X’s and O’s. They get after it on the floor then are a big family off the court.”
What will he bring to his future program?
“Their ball screen offense suits me well. I think I’ll be able to contribute to the team by handling the ball and making reads off ball screens as well as shooting from the perimeter.”
Richardson ran on the circuit with a talented MoKan squad in the Nike EYBL where he shot 42.5% from three in league play.
