U-High 2014 forward Max Rothschild is a prospect flying under the radar. Rothschild is a skilled combo forward that has a versatile inside-outside game where he can shoot it from the perimeter. He could be looked at as either a small forward or a face-up four man that can also do a little work in the post.
We caught up with Rothschild to see how his final run on the circuit went with the Illinois Wolves.
“The spring was pretty shaky. I didn’t play very much because I wasn’t playing well in practice. My confidence level was really low. Then in the summer I started to pick it back up again and regain my confidence. I focused a lot on my defense and I was guarding every position on the floor for our team. I got to play some of the best players in the country which was a lot of fun. It was a great experience playing with the Wolves.”
Where has he seen growth in his game?
“I am becoming a really good 4 man. My post moves have gotten a lot better and I’m stronger now. Also my defense has gotten better. My lateral quickness has gotten better.”
Rothschild is ready for a big senior year.
“I’m looking forward to leading our team and dominating the game. I really have to be ready mentally and physically.”
He updated us on where his recruitment stands.
“Wheaton College is on me really hard and I really like the school. Otherwise NIU has talked to me a little bit and Northwest Missouri State. Also Illinois Wesleyan. That’s all I can remember. Wheaton is definitely on me the hardest.”
What is he going to be looking for in a school?
“The education is first in everybody’s book and also mine. Also the quality of the guys I’m going to be playing with. I have to live with those guys for four years so hopefully they are people I like and can be around.”
