With the top players coming off the board on a daily basis we thought we would take a look at a few of the top available prospects at each position.
The point guard spot already has four prospects off the board in Tyler Ulis (Kentucky), Larry Austin (Tennessee), Marcus Bartley (St. Louis), CJ Rivers (Drake), and CJ Carr (SIU-Edwardsville). There are still many talented lead guards left on the board that are potential DI prospects.
Darreon Reddick (Belleville East)
Reddick is a strong bodied guard that gets into the lane with his strength. The power guard is an underrated passer that gets his teammates involved. His handles are solid including a good crossover at the top of the key that leads into a mid-range jumper. Reddick is a prospect that is being under recruited and will be a steal for the program that lands him.
Miles Reynolds (Whitney Young)
Reynolds is a point guard with good size and has played with and against the best competition in the nation over the last three years both in high school and on the travel team circuit. The best asset in his game is his perimeter shooting. He has a knack for taking and making the big shot from three. The Dolphins guard does a good job of pushing the ball and getting his teammates involved in transition. Reynolds is a team first player that does a good job of making the extra pass and getting the ball to his team’s stars when they are going.
Tevin King (Providence St. Mel)
King is also a tough and aggressive guard that is always on the attack. Defense is where he excels. He is one of the state’s best perimeter defenders. His goal is to lockdown every guard he goes up against. The energy he brings on that end of the floor translates to the rest of his team. Offensively King is an attacking guard that gets to the hoop consistently. His jumper is a bit streaky, but definitely can knock it down. Although not a pure point guard King showed during the summer he can get his teammates involved.
Erick Locke (Oak Park River Forest)
Locke is a tough guard that has experience being the starting point guard on the Illinois Wolves the past two summers. The senior excels at getting to the basket and finishing at the rim with athleticism and strength. Locke is a pesky defender that pressures the ball at the top of the key. Power guard that plays with a lot of heart and gets buckets.
