Chaminade (MO) 2016 power forward Tyler Cook is one of the top prospects in the St. Louis area regardless of class. The powerful post had a breakout July on the circuit with the St. Louis Eagles. Cook is a complete beast on the boards grabbing every single one of them and he finishes great around the hoop.
Over the weekend Cook took a visit to Purdue to learn more about the Boilermakers program.
“When I got there practice had already started. We sat in on practice for probably two hours. While practice was going on I met a few assistants and trainers. When practice ended I went and talked to one of the academic advisors. He talked to me about how things are in the classroom as an athlete.”
Cook discussed what impresses him about Purdue.
“Well I really liked the coaches and what they have done with the program. They seemed to be going in the right direction in terms of recruiting other talents and building a strong team in the future. They also have a very strong fan base.”
The Boilermakers coaches have been extremely impressed with what they have seen out of him early in the process.
“They said that they first saw me in 8th grade and that every time they’ve seen me since then I’ve gotten a lot better. They said they like my footwork, finishing, and my passing ability. Coach Gary the assistant said he would like me to call him once a week and that they want me to visit again soon.”
Cook updated us on where his recruitment stands.
“I talked to Kansas State last week and they also want me to visit soon. My next visit will probably be Illinois State. They seem to really be interested in me. I also received a questionnaire from Xavier last week. Kansas State and Xavier are the newest schools I’ve heard from.”
The schools Cook has heard from early in the process include Purdue, Kansas, St. Louis, Illinois State, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Villanova, Stanford, Dayton, Northern Colorado, Notre Dame, and Xavier.
