Well this is it. The nation’s top two players will take their final official visits this upcoming weekend. Whitney Young’s Jahlil Okafor and Curie’s Cliff Alexander are winding down the recruiting process and getting closer to a decision each day.
Okafor visited Kansas this past weekend. He took the trip with the nation’s top point guard Tyus Jones who he plans on playing with in college. The Jayhawks have put themselves toward the top for Okafor along with the school that he will visit this weekend. Next up for the duo will be a trip to Duke. The Blue Devils have been one of the teams to beat for a while. He will make a return trip to Durham to check out Duke and see former Mac Irvin Fire teammate Jabari Parker one last time before his decision. These two schools appear to be the teams to beat for the nation’s top center.
The best power forward nationally Cliff Alexander has had a busy few weeks. He started off the month by taking his official visit to Kansas. The Jayhawks have done a tremendous job of recruiting Alexander over the last six months and positioned themselves well with the big man. This past weekend he visited Memphis along with close friend and five-star point guard JaQuan Lyle. His last official visit will be this weekend to Illinois. Alexander has built a tight relationship with Illini coach John Groce and his staff since they took over the job last year. They made him a priority from day one and this weekend they will present their final pitch as to why he should join the Illini. Michigan State and DePaul are also still involved with the Spartans possibly getting an unofficial visit before his November 16th announcement.
It is the bottom of the 9th inning in both of these recruitments. Which closers will finish off with commitments?
