Colleges are always in search of big men. After the “Big 3” in Illinois this season there is a lack of overall depth at the post position. One player that is still a bit raw, but definitely has the size is 6’10” 212 pound Detalion Jackson from Proviso East. Jackson has long arms and is a pretty good rebounder. He is definitely an upside type prospect.
Jackson discussed how his summer went on the circuit with Illinois Old School.
“I think my game developed well. I feel like you can never stop working and always have to have a goal. Set your mind on one thing and get better at that one thing and take it one step at a time. That is pretty much what I have been doing this summer. Going into each game thinking about every rebound is going to be mine and accomplishing that goal for that game.”
What does he bring to the table for programs at the next level?
“I am a hard worker and relentless. I am whatever you want me to be on the court. If you need me to score I can. If you need me to rebound I can do that. I can play defense. I feel if you play defense your offense will come.”
Although he doesn’t hold any offers right now he is hearing from several schools.
“I have a lot of the state schools like Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Southern Indiana, Southeast Missouri, Oakton, and a couple others.”
Jackson tells us what he is looking for in a program.
“I am looking for a school that wants to win and needs you rather than want you.”
On a Proviso East team that has a lot of quality guards Jackson will be someone to watch on the interior.
