West Aurora 2016 combo forward Carleton Williams put his name on the map at the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp.
The 6’9” forward has a tremendous wingspan. Williams is super-athletic as he stood out in the drills with how smooth he moved and his vertical. The bouncy athlete is more of a face up four that excels at putting the ball on the deck with an explosive first step. He handles it well especially in transition. Around the hoop he had a couple of quick moves. He has the frame to add the strength which will help him on the glass as well as finishing more consistently through contact.
We spoke with Williams to get his thoughts on the camp.
“I think it has gone well. There is a lot of talent in 2016 and 2017. It is a great Midwest Camp. I think I have played well. Credit to my teammates.”
How would he describe his game?
“I don’t play in the post that much. I play more on the outside. I have to work on my shot a little more and rebound.”
Williams discussed his upcoming season at West Aurora.
“I am looking forward to a great season. We lost a lot of seniors last year. We are pretty young, but I think we will have a good season.”
He told us he has heard form a few colleges early in the recruiting process.
“Right now Detroit, DePaul, Iowa State, and last week I heard from Wisconsin.”
This will be a sophomore to track throughout the season and beyond.
