Demarcus Richardson Talks Season

Curie senior point guard Demarcus Richardson is the man that makes Curie go in the back court.  The strong and stocky guard is quick off the bounce and likes to get to the hoop where he is a good finisher.  We caught up with the senior to see how the season is going and how their aggressive early schedule will help them later in the season.

“We started off rough.  We had a tough schedule playing Oak Hill and we lost two close games we felt we should have won.  It is just getting us ready for when playoffs start.  It is going to get our mindset ready to play hard every game.  Don’t play the name across the chest.  Play the players.”

Richardson transferred over from De La Salle for his senior year at Curie.  How has the transition gone?

“I was trying not to be too aggressive coming over as a transfer from De La Salle.  I was trying to fit in and let everybody else go.  Coach told me the team isn’t going to go anywhere without me so I am trying to be aggressive.”

He broke down what his responsibilities are on this year’s team.

“I have to create, push the ball, keep the tempo going, and make sure Cliff (Alexander) gets touches.  When I get my opportunities I have to take advantage of it.”

He currently does not hold any offers, but is getting looked at by several college programs.  What is he looking for a school?

“The coaching staff making me feel at home.  Me being able to come in right away and help the team in an up-tempo type of game.”
