Malachi Nix Talks 44, Recruiting

Class of 2013 Niles North point guard Malachi Nix is in this midst of a stellar senior season.  He became his schools all-time scorer and has led his team to a conference championship.  Nix is a smaller guard that is extremely quick with the ball and drives to the hoop getting to the charity stripe at a good rate.  He is fast in transition and gets it to open shooters.

The scoring point guard saved his best game of the season for Sunday as he went for 44 points against Morton.

“I felt good in shoot around.  In the game I was feeling it as well.  I couldn’t settle for jumpers though.  I got to the rim today and got layups and foul calls.  I was 21-22 from the free throw line.”

He talked about his big senior season to cap off a great career.

“My senior season has been great.  I have great coaches and teammates.  Individually it’s great.  I think my stock is rising more and more.  As a team we are doing really well.  We are 24-3 and won our conference (10-0).”

How has the senior seen his game progress this season?

“I have been shooting a better percentage.  I’ve been rebounding a lot more.  Becoming a better leader and not forgetting to do the intangibles.”

Nix updated us on some of the schools recruiting him.

“NIU, UW Green Bay, SIU-E, Wayne State, Autustana, and more D1, D2, and D3.”

His only division one offer on the table right now is from Chicago State.

“They play great teams and compete with them.  Coach Dildy lets his point guards play their game.”

He plans on taking a visit to Chicago State soon.  He has visited Augustana and went to see a game at Northern Illinois.
